Week 21 (130124) of the North Caledonian Season saw us face Sutherland rivals Golspie Sutherland at home after efforts were made to ensure the pitch was playable before the game.
The game started with Bonar on top having the best opening chances, which didn’t take long before they turned into Fortune when a good ball through from Josh Sands found Connell Gresham who finished well in the 7th minute to give Bonar the early advantage at home.
Golspie then managed to find a way back into the game on the 15th minute through a lose ball found Graham MacNab who headed home to level the game. The first half continued with both teams having chances in what was an end-to-end game. Both teams defending well to keep the score level with Bonar finding the net again during the half but it was shortly declared offside.
The second half started with a great chance for Bonar to re-take the lead in the game but were unable to finish before Golspie’s defence recovered. Golspie then came into the half, and they found themselves ahead through a deep cross finding the head of Cameron Sutherland on the 51st minute to put the away team ahead.
Both teams looking for the important next goal, however Bonar found themselves another goal down on the 58th minute after not managing to clear the ball from a Golspie attack before the ball found its way through to Graham MacNab at the back post who made it 3-1 to Golspie.
The second half continued with chances for both teams like the first half, with Golspie seeing out the rest of the half to hold onto their win.
The game finished 3-1 to Golspie who were better in the second half. This was a disappointing end to the game for Bonar after a strong first half performance. All the best to Golspie Sutherland for the remainder of the season.
Man of the match on the day was Connell Gresham, who worked hard all day and a good finish to give him 2 goals in his first 3 appearances for the club.
