After a poor performance from Bonar last match day at home, we looked to bounce back to form again.
The game started with Bonar applying a lot of pressure on the Fort William defense. The Bonar front three of Jordan Shaw, Connell Gresham & Shaun Marshall looked dangerous in every attack with the midfield working hard creating chances.
The first goal of the game came in the 16th minute after a brilliant run forward by Shaun Marshall after picking up the ball in his own half before cutting it back to the edge of the box for Ryan Hamilton, surging forward from Midfield who finished well giving Mateuz Kulbacki no chance in the Fort William Goal. A first goal for Ryan Hamilton for the club in a few seasons.
Bonar continued there pressure on the Fort William back line. A mix of good attacking football being played & hard work by the home team helping to create chances looking to double their lead. Great fight shown by Connell Gresham down the right hand side on the 22nd minute before finding himself in space to pick out Jordan Shaw in the box who showed great composure to fire home Bonar’s second goal of the game. 2-0.
Fort William came into the game in the final 10 minutes of the half applying a lot of pressure on the Bonar defense before the half time whistle came. There efforts paid off with 5 minute to go after a deep cross wasn’t cleared before a shot was blocked shot hit the arm of Jack Corbett leaving Gavin Dearie no choice but to award a penalty. David Neil of Fort William stepped up and converted well to give the visitors an avenue back into the game. Half Time 2-1.
The second half started in the same manner as the first. Bonar found there hold in the game again and not long after the restart a brilliant ball by Bruce Urquhart found Shaun Marshall on his way charging towards the Fort goal before smashing home far post to restore the home sides 2 goal lead.
The home side continued looking dangerous in attack and solid in defense clearing up the Fort William counter attacks well. Bonar got there reward on the 81st minute following a long spell of pressure after good work from Jack Corbett finding Connell Gresham off the head of a Fort William Defender. Connell driving towards the line before cutting the ball across goal leaving Shaun Marshall an almost open goal for his second of the game.
The game finished with Connell Gresham getting his reward after two assists earlier in the game. Bruce Urquhart again picking apart the Fort William defense with a splitting ball before Connell finished in the far corner to seal the win for Bonar and a commanding result.
