Week 7 of the Macleod & Maccallum North Caledonian League seen us make the trip to Caithness to face Thurso FC at Sir Georges Park in wet conditions.
The game started with attacking football from either team looking to get an early lead in the game. Bonar looked dangerous in attack with Midfield & Attack linking up well but neither team could get the lead in the first third of the game. The Scoring opened on the 35th minute for the away team after a charging run forward from Defense by Jack Traynor into the final third before finding the feet of Shaun Marshall before cutting inside and curling one into the top corner on the 35th minute giving the Thurso keeper no chance.
The first half finished with Thurso looking to level the game up. After hitting the post corners came in abundance for the home side, with it looking like they equalized just before half time before the ref disallowing the goal for simulation on the keeper in the build up. Half Time 0-1.
The second half started and it was Bonar who were building into the game more as they looked to increase there lead on the visitors. Jordan Shaw was rewarded for his hard work on the 57th minute after a back pass from Thurso was short before the Thurso Keeper mistimed his kick leaving Bonar’s No.9 a tap in finish for his second goal of the season.
In wet conditions both side kept the hard work going, with both Defenses holding strong and it being a battle in the middle of the park as both teams looked to find the next goal which would decide the final minutes. A long kick on the 75th minute found Bruce Urquhart jumping highest to help the ball into the path of Jordan Shaw who finished calmly into the corner to increase the margin between the teams.
The game finished with Bonar looking to keep there second clean sheet in a row and Thurso looking for any chance to get back into the game. There were chances for Bonar to increase there lead with some positive counter attacks but the game finished 3 up to the visitors.
