Week 2 of the 2024-25 NCL season seen us make the trip down to Fort William in our first away fixture of the season being held at Lochaber High 3G pitch.
Very good effort by the Bonar Bridge Squad today In conditions that were not great for Football, Strong Wind and Torrential Rain.
Fort William had the better of the two teams in the first half without Bonar Bridge defense being caused a too much danger. Fort William were gifted a great chance to take the lead in the 15th minute with an unfortunate penalty being awarded to the home team after miscommunication in the Bonar midfield the ball found its way through the defense before a foul in the box. Andrew McLean stepped up to put the hosts ahead in the game. The score line remained the same for the remainder of the first half with a closely contested game.
The second half continued similar to the first with a tight contest between both teams. Bonar had a number of chances to level the game through Johnie Beattie hitting the crossbar & Stefan Ritchie hitting the post. Fort William doubled their lead against the run of play in the 83rd minute through a corner finding the head of Andrew McLean for his second goal of the game.
A good effort from all the group of players today against a tough Fort William side away from home & on another day may have come away with something from the game.
Final Score Fort William FC 2 – 0 Bonar Bridge FC
Thanks to Fort William for the game and hospitality. Best of luck for the remainder of the season.
Also thanks to Alba Photograph for sharing there photographs with the club.
MOTM on the day was Jack Traynor displaying a solid performance in central defense to keep Bonar in the game.
