BONAR BRIDGE FC 1 -1 ST DUTHUS FC – NORTH CALEDONIAN LEAGUE

Week 1 of the 2024-25 North Caledonian Season seen us feature in home action against a strong St Duthus FC side under new management in the form of John Maclennan. 

The Game started with both teams looking for an early goal to settle into the new season. Bonar started well forcing forward through the wide areas. Connor Ross & Johnie Beattie in a new partnership looking to cause problems for the St Duthus Defense. The Opening Goal came in the tenth minute through a long ball from Jack Traynor finding Josh Sands at the back post before it was squared to new signing Johnie Beattie on his debut for the club leaving John Allan no chance in the St Duthus Net. 1-0.

As the game continued St Duthus looked for the equaliser. On the 22nd minute St Duthus pressure was rewarded through a freekick being awarded on the edge of the box well defended by Bonar before the ball squared to Jamie Skinner at 30 yards out rifled one into the top corner to level the scores. 1-1

The first half continued with pressure from both teams to looking to take the lead but some good defending from either side kept the scores level at half time.

The second half continued the same as first with chances for both teams but solid defending throughout maintained an even game. Chances for either side came and went in a tightly contested game. St Duthus hit the woodwork in the second half with Bonar coming close at the end with a header from Paddy Daw just going wide.

MOTM on the day was Archie Ryder who put in a strong display in central midfield full of energy winning the ball a number of times helping the home side put threat against St Duthus Defence.
